Early Miocene magmatism in the Baiyun Sag (South China Sea): A view to the origin of intense post-rift magmatism

چکیده

Post-rift magmatism associated with seafloor spreading (∼32 Ma to ∼15 Ma) and post-spreading tectonics (from the present day) is widely recorded in South China Sea (SCS). However, phenomena originating this are still under debate, hindering a full understanding of SCS’ evolution. In study, extensive voluminous magmatic bodies northern SCS investigated based on integration 3D/2D seismic borehole data. Magmatism occurred from ∼19.0 ∼17.5 Ma, period time marking cessation above listric boundary faults formed southern shoulder Baiyun Sag. close main basin depocenter (Magmatic Zone 1) documented form oblique/saucer sills that step upwards. They have fed volcanoes lava flows paleo-seabed via igneous dikes. contrast, shoulders Sag zones 2 3) large magma pathways. The phase work was probably triggered by retreat Hainan Plume mantle readjustments during jumps spreading-ridge location. These events rejuvenated upwelling underneath highly stretched generate partial melting. Mantle also reactivated flanking basin, generating migration pathways for deep-seated magma. This addresses syn-spreading plumbing system detail, provides evidence origin intense post-rift SCS. It highlights changes (ridge jump or spreading) can significant magmatism.

Magmatism of the Kenya Rift Valley: a review

Tertiary±Recent magmatism in the Kenya Rift Valley was initiated c. 35Ma, in the northern part of Kenya. Initiation of magmatism then migrated southwards, reaching northern Tanzania by 5±8Ma. This progressionwas accompaniedby a change in the nature of the lithosphere, from rocks of the Panafrican Mozambique mobile belt through reworked craton margin to rigid, Archaean craton. Magma volumes and ...

the effect of taftan pozzolan on the compressive strength of concrete in the environmental conditions of oman sea (chabahar port)

cement is an essential ingredient in the concrete buildings. for production of cement considerable amount of fossil fuel and electrical energy is consumed. on the other hand for generating one tone of portland cement, nearly one ton of carbon dioxide is released. it shows that 7 percent of the total released carbon dioxide in the world relates to the cement industry. considering ecological issu...

In the Case of Maden Complex, Geochemical Constraints on the Origin and Tectonic Implication of Eocene Magmatism in SE Turkey

The origin and geodynamic setting of the Maden Complex, which is situated in the Bitlis–Zagros Suture Zone in the Southeast Anatolian Orogenic Belt, is still controversial due to lack of systematic geological and geochemical data. Here we present new whole rock major–trace–rare earth element data from the Middle Eocene volcanic rocks exposed in Maden Complex and discuss their origin in the ligh...
